Stage-gate checker: an AI agent that keeps required deal fields complete before a stage changes
The stage-gate checker watches for deals moving to a new stage. It checks each one against the exit criteria you set for that stage, fills any missing fields it can find evidence for in calls and emails, and asks the rep for the rest. Your stages then mean the same thing on every deal.
We design every agent around how you sell. This page shows our starting design for this one.
- When it runs
- Each time a rep moves a deal to a new stage, plus a daily sweep.
- Works in
- Your CRM's deal stages and fields, call notes and email, with prompts in Slack, Microsoft Teams or the CRM.
- Waits for a person
- Field values it fills from evidence, if you choose. You sign off any change to the stage rules.
- How you know it works
- Deals that meet the exit criteria at each stage, stage-to-stage conversion, and forecast accuracy.
What it does
- Agrees exit criteria for each stage with you, such as a confirmed budget before the proposal stage.
- Checks each deal against the criteria when a rep moves its stage.
- Fills missing fields where calls or emails give clear evidence, and quotes the source.
- Asks the rep in Slack, Microsoft Teams or the CRM for anything it can't find.
- Tells the manager about deals that still miss criteria after the time you set.
What it hands your team
Northwind Logistics moved to Proposal
- Filled
- Decision process: "CFO signs after a security review", from Thursday's call.
- Missing
- Budget amount. The agent asked the rep in Slack.
- Rule
- Proposal needs a budget amount within two days, or the deal goes on the manager's review list.
Example output. The companies and people are made up.
Questions about the stage-gate checker agent
Why not use required fields in the CRM?
Required fields make reps type something to move on, and some type anything. The checker fills fields from real evidence and asks for the rest with context, so the data is worth using.
Will it block reps from moving deals?
Not unless you want it to. By default it lets the move through, asks for the gaps and tells the manager if they stay open.
Which criteria can it check?
Any criteria you can write down, including MEDDICC fields, mutual action plans or your own stage definitions.
